Before energizing an electric winch, inspect the wire rope, drum, hook and anchor points for visible wear or deformation. Confirm that guards and fasteners are secure and that the rope is wound evenly across the drum.
Check the power supply, control switch, emergency stop, grounding and limit devices. Run the machine without load and listen for abnormal noise from the gearbox, brake or bearings. The brake should hold firmly when the control is released.
Verify the planned load and pulling direction before work begins. Operators should maintain a clear communication method, keep people away from the rope line and stop immediately if vibration, overheating or irregular winding appears.
