A winch motor generates more heat when the load approaches or exceeds its rated capacity. Long pulls, frequent starts and low supply voltage can increase current and leave too little time for cooling.
Keep ventilation openings clear and use the specified cable size and power source. Check that the drum turns freely, the brake releases fully and the gearbox contains the correct lubricant.
If temperature rises unusually fast, stop the machine and identify the cause rather than continuing at reduced speed. Choosing a winch with adequate capacity and duty rating is the most effective long-term solution.
