Improving Jobsite Safety with Portable Gantry Cranes

Portable lifting frames can simplify maintenance and installation work when they are correctly rated, assembled and positioned.

Portable gantry cranes provide a flexible lifting point where permanent structures are unavailable. Before use, check the rated capacity of the frame, trolley and hoist as one complete system.

Assemble the unit on level ground, lock all pins and fasteners and verify that the beam is centered. If casters are fitted, engage the brakes before lifting and do not move a suspended load unless the equipment is specifically designed for that operation.

Keep the load directly below the trolley to avoid side pulling. A short pre-lift test confirms balance and brake performance before the load is raised to working height.
