Why Anti-Torsion Wire Rope Matters in Overhead Line Work


Anti-torsion rope helps keep conductors stable during stringing and reduces rotation transferred through the pulling system.

Conventional wire rope can store torque as it passes over drums and sheaves. During overhead line stringing, that torque may rotate connectors or transfer unwanted twist to the conductor.

Anti-torsion steel wire rope uses opposing strand directions to balance rotational forces. This construction improves stability under tension and helps the rope track more consistently through pulling equipment.

The rope still requires correct handling. Avoid tight bends, kinks and cross winding, inspect connectors before use and retire sections showing broken wires, flattening or corrosion. Rope diameter and rated capacity must match the pull plan.
